SharePoint Designer issue when creating or opening workflow

Lately I've notice an issue with SharePoint Designer while working with workflows.
So here's what the issue scenario is.
Scenario 1:

  • Open SharePoint Designer and then open any site (SharePoint online site)
  • Create a workflow for any document library or list
  • Below error shows up.

"Server side activities have been updated you need to restart SharePoint designer."

Scenario 2:

  • Open SharePoint Designer and then open any site (SharePoint online site)
  • Open an existing workflow
  • An error shows up same like above scenario 1.
I've referred many articles online and unfortunately I didn't find any concrete solution which worked for me. So here's what I did and it resolved the issue.

Clear cache from below locations
  • %APPDATA%\Microsoft\Web Server Extensions\Cache
  • %APPDATA%\Microsoft\SharePoint Designer\ProxyAssemblyCache
  • %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\WebsiteCache
  • C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\SharePoint Designer
·

Now uninstall SharePoint Designer
Reboot and then re-install in below order.
